With an aim to spread awareness amongst the women folk by empowering them, the Army Camp at Bela Salamabad conducted a food processing workshop. This noble and innovative project to enhance the individual skills and for community development in the field of food processing is being conducted in collaboration with Healing Touch Foundation (NGO). The workshop was conducted over four days from 17 to 20 April 2019 for the women residing in the nearby areas to the Skill Development Centre established by Boniyar Battalion at Bela Salamabad under the aegis of Himalayan Brigade. During the workshop, the training would be imparted on food processing techniques, homemade produce and preparation of traditional dishes by employing competent trainers and counselors from the NGO. This will help the local women to develop their skills and avail self-employment opportunities on their own merit. The success of the initiative could already be gauged by its popularity and active participation in enrolment even before the commencement of workshop. This initiative is another milestone in achieving the goal of an improved livelihood for women in the rural areas of Kashmir.
