The Chief of Army Staff Gen Bipin Rawat felicitated and encouraged the students of Army Goodwill School, Hanzik and Bandipora on 03rd January 2019 at Sena Bhavan, New Delhi, during his interaction with the nine member Indian team contingent which won nine medals while representing the country during World Kickboxing Championship at Argentina from 05th to 10th November 2018.
On this occasion, Gen Rawat greeted and encouraged Master Aabid Hamid (15 yrs), who secured Gold Medal, Master Hashim Ashraf (15 yrs) and Mr Irsad Ahmad Ganie (27 yrs), who bagged Silver Medals in the Championship at Argentina.
These budding sportspersons from Army Goodwill Schools were part of the team, which represented India at the World Kickboxing Championship. They were trained by their respective schools and sponsored by the Army for representing India at World Kickboxing Championship. The students and the sports teacher have been consistently performing well due to nurturing and support of Army Goodwill Schools and have brought laurels to the country at International level. Their success is truly inspiring and will go a long way in motivating a number of young boys and girls to take up sports and achieve their dream.
While congratulating the medalists, the Army Chief urged the students of the Valley to take up such activities wherein they can explore their talent and also bring laurels for the country. Also, the Chief of Army Staff emphasised the resolve of Army to identify and promote the talent of youth from the Valley and assured continued support in terms of training and sponsorship, which will be provided to the budding talents in the future as well.
