SRINAGAR, DEC 08 (PTK): At least 11 people have been killed and scores injured when the bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge in Plera in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district on Saturday.
The accident occurred at Plera when the driver of the bus, coming from Loran to Poonch, lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve and rolled down into a 100-meter gorge, a police official said.
The death toll is expected to go up as the condition of most of the injured was stated to be “critical”, the official said.
DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav said; ” 11 deaths and 34 injured people are being treated at different hospitals. We’ve arranged air ambulance for those who are in a critical condition.
Meanwhile Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday expressed grief over the loss of lives in an accident at Mandi area of Poonch district.
Taking to the social networking site, Twitter Mirwaiz wrote: “Deeply grieved at the loss of life in the tragic road accident at Poonch. My condolences to the affected families. Pray to almighty for speedy recovery of the injured.” (PTK)
Two employees of restaurant died of suffocation caused by gas leakage
SRINAGAR, DEC 08 (PTK): Two employees of Mughal Darbar Bakery and restaurant died allegedly of suffocation caused by gas leakage from a gas heater in the food outlets factory at HMT in Srinagar in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Reports said that two employees of Mughal Darbar had fallen unconscious at their room where they were sleeping.
The deceased employees were identified as Mohammad Iqbal Dar son of Qayoom Ahmed Dar, a resident of Baramulla and Mohammad Yousuf Chopan son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Kunzar Tangmarg. (PTK)
