As a part of World Health Organisation’s South East Asia Region and Govt of India’s resolution to eliminate Measles and control Rubella and Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS), the Army organised Measles Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaigns for the children at Army Goodwill School Wayne and Uri.

One of the world’s largest vaccination campaign against Measles, a major childhood killer and Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS), responsible for irreversible birth defects, was launched by the Govt of India to cover about 410 million children across the country.

At Wayne, over 150 children were vaccinated by a team of doctors and health workers from District Administration (Medical Department), Kupwara and Army Medical Team. At Uri, over 200 children from nearby villages were benefitted from this campaign launched by the Army and SDH, Uri.

This Vaccination Campaign was a great success wherein the aim to vaccinate every child in the area, leaving no child behind and fighting against the prevailing misconceptions on vaccination was achieved. The locals and civil dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the Army and Medical Authorities for the successful conduct of vaccination program which is an important step towards eliminating these diseases from the region.
