With the aim towards social upliftment of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the Army in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklaang Sahatya Samiti and Spark Minda, an NGO under the Ashok Minda Group, is organising an 8-day Artificial Limb Fitment Camp from 16th – 23rd Sept 2018 at Youth Center, Boniyar, Baramulla. The Camp is providing end-to-end support in Limb fitment and Caliper fitment and provision of Walkers and Elbow Crutches absolutely free of cost.
This event is part of ‘Saksham’ – a CSR program started by Spark Minda to help Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by providing accessible and assistive technologies, imparting skill training through OJT (On the job training), creating inclusive workplace and ergonomics, training for life skills and employing PWDs (Persons with Disability). The Group has already successfully organised Artificial Limb Fitment Camps in various cities of India, Indonesia and Vietnam, which has benefitted over 4000 people.
Speaking at the inauguration of Artificial Limb Fitment Camp Program, Commander Pir Panjal Brigade said, “We are extremely happy to set-up this camp aimed at the physical and socio-economic rehabilitation of the persons with disability, especially those facing financial hardships, so they can lead a life of dignity and become productive and sustained members of the society. I would like to request all the community stakeholders to disseminate it to all needy people.”
During the inauguration ceremony, Mr P K Karn, Head, Group CSR, Spark Minda, said “We are grateful to the Army for giving us this opportunity to work with them for this noble cause aimed at bringing about a positive transformation in the lives of individuals. As an organisation, we have been working towards this cause for decades now and we understand the need and importance of such initiatives which give a second life to people with disabilities, encouraging them to live a dignified and complete life.”
All Persons with Disability, who are willing to get the free aid from this Camp are kindly requested to walk in at Youth Center, Boniyar till 23rd Sept to receive the services and assistance under the program.
